Testicular exam and examination per rectum might be uncomfortable, but it shouldn't hurt.
What will happen during the exam?
The examination is focused on the inspection of your urinary tract (kidneys, urinary bladder, urethra) and male sexual organs (testicles, epididymis, prostate, penis). The doctor will interview you and look at your genitals. He will examine your prostate per rectum. He might also take some blood and urine samples to test them for PSA markers (to discover diseases such as kidney cancer, prostate cancer, etc.). There is also a possibility to check levels of testosterone - a male sex hormone. The doctor might also use other methods, such as ultrasound scan, endoscopy, examination of your semen, etc.
